Nostalgi er et kraftfuldt værktøj, men det kan også være lidt af et tveægget sværd. Eksempelvis overfaldes DICE i kommentarfelter i disse dage med forespørgsler om at gamle map-favoritter fra Battlefield-seriens fortid bør bringes tilbage i det kommende Battlefield 6.

Men spørger du Design Director Sashank Uchil, så er dette en ret vanskelig proces, fordi der opstår et svært spændingsfelt imellem sådan som spillere husker et konkret map, kontra hvordan det skal tilpasses for at passe ind i en anderledes kontekst.

I et interview med PCGamesN siger han dette:

“You wouldn’t believe how difficult it is. Because [of players’] expectations. People know the map and people have certain expectations. But also there’s rose-tinted glasses, like, this is how it used to be. That’s where challenge comes in. How do we make it as destructible as every map in the package? How do we make sure the map work with the weapons, which are different from the weapons in Battlefield 3? It’s much more complicated than people think.”
