Sony Interactive Entertainment og Polyphony Digital har annonceret, at Gran Turismo serien pr. 25. juni i år har rundet mere end 100 millioner solgte eksemplarer, siden det første spil udkom på den originale PlayStation tilbage i 1997. Siden da, er der udkommet mere end 12 spil i serien.
På samme tid er det nu også annonceret, at en stor og gratis Spec III opdatering er på vej, og den udkommer i december. Opdateringen vil blandt andet indeholde to nye baner, otte nye biler og flere nye features. Nedenfor kan du se, hvad den nye Spec III opdatering vil indeholde.
Skaberen af Gran Turismo, Kazunori Yamauchi siger i forbindelse med at serien runder den flotte milepæl på 100 millioner solgte eksemplarer:
To pick up a video game box in a store, and line up at the cash register to purchase it; this action takes at least a few minutes to complete. To think that this has happened more than 100 million times around the world really blows my mind.

Gran Turismo 7 er ude på PlayStation 4 og PlayStation 5 og kan også spilles med PSVR2 headset. Spec III opdateringen kommer i løbet af december.
